Theo Takes Power 2010 Pledge

Theo Butt Philip, Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate for Bridgwater and West Somerset, today signed the Power 2010 pledge to clean up politics in the UK.

The Power 2010 campaign aims to repair British politics and implement the constitutional reforms necessary for fair, accountable and representative government.

The 5 policy commitments are to:

  • Introduce a proportional voting system.

  • Scrap ID cards and roll back the database state.

  • Replace the House of Lords with an elected chamber.

  • Allow only English MPs to vote on English laws.

  • Draw up a written constitution.

Theo said: "The Power 2010 campaign represents the way in which British politics should be moving. Politics needs to be more responsive. Politicians need to serve the people they represent. The Power 2010 pledges provide a pathway to a fairer politics."
