Save Our Somerset PCSOs

Theo Butt Philip, Liberal Democrat candidate for Bridgwater and West Somerset, has slammed Conservative plans to cut Somerset's Police Community Support Officer Budget.

Conservative-controlled Somerset County Council is planning to cut the budget for Somerset's PCSOs by £129,000 from next year.

Theo Butt Philip said:

"PCSOs play a vital role in keeping our communities safe and the public reassured.

"I'm constantly meeting people who are worried about crime and antisocial behaviour; I'm therefore shocked that the Tories are planning to cut funding for PCSO.

"If the Conservatives were planning to cut funding for community policing they should have had the decency to let the voters know before the elections in June."
