Lord Cotter, the former Liberal Democrat MP for Weston-super-Mare, will be in Nether Stowey on Saturday to launch the Liberal Democrat election campaign in Bridgwater and West Somerset. Lord Cotter will be launching the campaign for Theo Butt Philip, the Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate.
Lord Cotter, who represented Weston-super-Mare in Parliament from 1997-2005, is one of the party's spokespeople on Business in the House of Lords.
The launch will take place in Nether Stowey Village Hall, Lime Street, Nether Stowey at 3:30pm on Saturday 10th April and anyone is welcome to attend to hear Lord Cotter and Theo Butt Philip speak and take questions.
News that Lord Cotter will be lending Theo Butt Philip his support comes after the independent Electoral Calculus website predicted that Labour would finish third in Bridgwater and West Somerset.
Theo Butt Philip said:
"It doesn't surprise me at all that election commentators are saying Labour are going to finish third here. All the information we have suggests that the Labour vote is disappearing and the Liberal Democrats are the only alternative to the Conservatives here."
